Online teaching is the new
normal of education. All the prominent education institutes and organization
are now conducting their classes online by using software based educational
platforms. As a virtual teacher you already know the do’s of online teaching.
But have you ever thought of the don’ts? The things which you should not do as
an online teacher also have a powerful impact on your teaching.
So let’s discuss them in detail:
Vocabulary is very relevant in online teaching. As you
are not present in front of your students physically thus the words you choose
to explain a topic will be very helpful for your students to understand that
particular topic. Here, don’t is that
you should not use complicated vocab which is difficult to pronounce as well as
to listen.
Some of your learners might be new to you. They will
have their pace of learning. Here, don’t
is that you should not expect perfection from them. Give your students their
time to understand concepts. They will surely learn better.
During a live class don’t ignore the chat box. Some
of the learners might face some issue or they may have queries to ask and they
can write it in the chat box. So always pay attention to it.
While recording a video always check that there is
ample amount of light on your face as well as on the board. It will make clear
visuals and help your students to understand better.
Remember that there can be a network issue and some students may miss the lecture. Don’t assume it as their excuse. It may be real. In a condition like these, always keep a backup of videos and be available for the learners and clear their doubts.
Do’s of online teaching makes you a good teacher but don’ts will make you a Perfect Mentor and student’s
favourite too!
